Travis Kelce makes a surprise revelation in response to criticism of US Open appearance with Taylor Swift

The 100th episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's "New Heights" podcast was a momentous occasion for the NFL brothers. Not long after the Kelces inked a $100 million deal with Amazon to produce and distribute the show, the brothers dropped a milestone program that covered Jason's beloved Philadelphia Eagles, Travis' Kansas City Chiefs...and Travis' surprise appearance at the US Open men's final on Sunday.

Of course, Travis didn't make a solo trip to see world No. 1 Jannik Sinner overcome American Taylor Fritz at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Travis' partner, pop superstar Taylor Swift, was at his side, and the pair received some backlash for their apparent "cringe" behavior when cameras spotted them demonstratively signing along to "I Believe in a Thing Called Love". For Travis, the newest "New Heights" episode was his chance to respond to the criticism over the viral clip.

Travis nearly risked it all

As everyone expected, Travis came out firing on the new episode of "New Heights" and described to Jason his mentality while attending one of tennis' hallowed Grand Slam finals.

"It was a completely different world," Travis explained. "I looked to my left and my right and every single time I did it, I saw a familiar face. There were so many f***ing people there to see the action, especially the final game knowing an American was in the US Open."

Travis found it challenging exist in the respectful silence that defines the biggest tennis matches. To that end, the three-time Super Bowl champion took some risks -- to the point where he claimed he was close to getting kicked out by US Open security.

"When it's very quiet, we want to do something or say something," Travis said. "I've never been a quiet person, I've always been the kid at the back of the class when it gets quiet, saying something smart or funny, or trying to get a rise out of someone."

Travis explained that the "entire time" he had to fight the temptation to heckle Sinner, but in the end, he "dressed and acted the part" alongside Swift -- whose break from touring continues into next month.

"I had the old country club look going, with the cardigan and button-up and hat to match, I was Gucci head to toe. I had the Magoo mustache. The bucket hat with the mustache is very Magoo-ish. I was a huge Mr. Magoo fan growing up, man."
