Toronto Police said that its human trafficking unit began the investigation in September, alleging the accused trafficked a 28-year-old woman over a six-year span “through a combination of deception, coercion and control” and that any money she earned was “surrendered” to him.
Justin Ferguson was arrested on Oct. 13 and charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services, financial/material benefit/trafficking a person over 18, procuring, possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate and uttering threats (death or bodily harm).
Cops said the investigation also found that another 28-year-old woman was allegedly trafficked, this time over an 11-year span, under similar means and that the accused met and exploited her when she was a minor. He also allegedly took any money she earned, police said.
Ferguson was arrested again on Oct. 27 and charged with 15 more offences including procuring and trafficking in persons under 18 years old, possession of a firearm without holding a licence, uttering threats (death or bodily harm), assault and sexual exploitation of a young person.
Investigators said they believe there may be other victims.

Fatal crash closes QEW in Niagara Falls
The QEW remains closed in the north end of Niagara Falls after at least one person was killed in a three-vehicle crash.
The OPP’s Highway Safety Division said the highway is closed in both directions between Thorold Stone and Mountain Rds. as officers investigate, adding that the cleanup will be “extensive” and is expected to continue “well into the evening.”
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a tractor-trailer was involved in the crash and that other people were being transported to hospitals.
“Extensive delays and backups in that area,” he said in a mid-afternoon video posted on social media. “You’re going to want to avoid any area around Niagara Falls on the QEW because you will be forced off at Thorold Stone or Mountain Rd. in both directions.”
