Tom Holland Detailed His Indicators for Choosing a Project

Tom Holland became an overnight sensation, thanks to his role as Spider-Man in the MCU. This journey started with Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and continued till Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. But with fame also comes the pressure to break free from being seen only as that one character. Something that even actor Andrew Garfield had to go through after his Spider-Man movies. It took him a very long time to show people that he was more than just Peter Parker. And now after participating in several diverse roles, he has established his versatility.

In a recent interview, the host enquired that after his Spider-Man role, Holland has ventured into diverse roles. In this, while some have succeeded, others have not. However, the actor seemed more focused on the exploration rather than on predictable outcomes. To this Holland replied:

I think that’s perfectly put, it’s an experiment and like I try not to think about what will this do for my career. Is this an awards piece or is this a box office bonus movie? I just—is it something I’d like to watch—is really my biggest indicator as to whether I would do it or not. And I just love being challenged.

Talking about different roles, Holland was a part of Cherry released in 2021. In this, unlike his previous roles, he played a darker and more serious character giving the viewers a fresh experience after his superhero role.

And while Spider-Man will always be a huge part of his life, the actor is working hard consistently to showcase his acting chops. Further, given his acting talent, it’s only a matter of time before everyone sees him more than just Peter Parker.
