This The Boys, season 5, episode 7 recap of “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk,” is shocking, thoroughly entertaining, and packs an emotional punch unlike anything the series has done before. Antony Starr is so good here, volatile, funny, and scary. He has never been better. Starr also deserves an Emmy nomination.
The episode opens with Oh Father (Daveed Diggs) rehearsing a number for the big unveiling of Homelander (Starr), who is being introduced to the world as our lord and savior. Then, in the Oval Office, sitting behind the Resolute Desk, he tells the President to outlaw nut milk and mandate breastfeeding. Oh, and to just disband Congress entirely.

To see how much pain she can endure when placed in a room with active uranium. Hughie wants to give up, but Butcher gives them a “knockout” speech on how they will not quit.

Homelander asks Vice President Barrett (Colby Minifie) what President Calhoun thinks of him. Our new god takes off Ashley’s wig, exposing the second face on the back of her head. Instead of lying and trying to keep the peace, Barrett tells her boss that Steven is terrified of him. Homelander then pops the President like a water balloon
Butcher, Hughie, MM (Laz Alonso), and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) sneak onto the set of American Eagle, which is filming its series finale. The star refers to the episode as a pile of dog, you know what? The director hilariously tells him, “The Taylor Sheridan AI wrote the thing.” Meanwhile, Hughie and Butcher sneak onto Oh Father’s set.
Frenchie talks to Sage (Susan Heyward), who cannot get over her massive screw-up. If you do not remember, in the last episode, she failed to predict that Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) would not allow Homelander to become immortal. Frenchie tells her that if she does not want to save the world, then at least save herself. Sage then stabs herself in the eye.
Finally, Frenchie attempts one more time to convince Sage to help save Kimiko. He succeeds, but not before she lubes up a fully charged Starlight vibrator. Then we have “Oh Father,” where only six people in the test audience believe Homelander is their God. Homelander tells Oh Father to give the final 24 the full VIP experience.
Prime Video’s The Boys Season 5 Episode 7: What is Hughie’s Favorite Billy Joel Song?
Antony Starr in The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 Recap | Image via Amazon MGM StudiosButcher asks Hughie about his favorite Billy Joel song, the first one he mentions was “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” which he notes is like three songs in one. A hilarious diversion because Butcher spotted Synapse, a killer wanted in the Psychic Interstate Murders, who can read their thoughts. Hence, why he had Hughie talk about the great BJ.
Of course, that does not work. Synapse catches them, and apparently, he is a huge Billy Joel fan, causing both to lose consciousness. Meanwhile, The Deep (Chace Crawford) is accosted by a Hammerhead Shark, voiced by the great Samuel L. Jackson. The predator blames him for the Pipeline Genocide, “motherf*cker,” saying he is dead to them.
Then we see MM and Starlight in a hidden room, watching Oh Father present a test screening to a group that will “give them valuable” feedback. However, Mother’s Milk spots two of the world’s most dangerous psychics along opposite walls. Then, incredibly, we cut to Homelander killing Soldier Boy for leaving. Talk about child-abandonment issues.
Then, we get why Synapse is so valuable. He morphs into Joe Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who reveals, straight from Billy’s head, that he has a darkness inside of him. Billy has no conscience, Kessler acted as the surrogate. Mainly, Butcher was the only member of his unit to survive as long as they got their target.
Prime Video’s The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 Ending Explained: How Does Frenchie Die?
Antony Starr in The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 Recap | Image via Amazon MGM StudiosAlso, Synapse now knows where all of his associates are hiding. He leaves the room, and when he returns, Hughie distracts the evil Supe by going over the Supe’s crimes. Billy then shoots those massive, prehensile tentacles from his body into Synapse, killing him. They attempt to call Frenchie, trying to warn Frenchie, Kimiko, and Sage.
Nack to test screening, apparently, that means death. Dogknott and Sheline break the locks off the doors after Oh Father leaves, telling them they didn’t believe Homelander to be their Savior in their hearts. They kill a few, but MM and Starlight arrive, saving the survivors. Also, MM stabs Sheline with a handful of poison needles made by Frenchie. They drive the rest of the people to a safehouse.
The Boys season 5, episode 7, titled “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk,” ends with Frenchie saving Kimiko and Sage from Homelander, who arrives after the evil Supe sets off the rooftop alarm. Frenchie locks himself inside the uranium chamber, giving Homelander the finger. We then see our lord and savior fly away.
Sage lets go of Kimiko, who was holding her back, and she runs to Frenchie, finding a trail of blood leading to her love. Frenchie sacrificed himself, forcing Homelander to kill him so he would not give up Kimiko’s location. She thanks Frenchie for saving her. He then tells her, “No, thank you for saving me.” They kiss, and Frenchie passes away as Hughie and Billy arrive.
