If there is one thing The Boys thrives on, it is taking superhero mythology and twisting it into something deeply uncomfortable. While the fifth and final season of the show is currently ongoing, a wild theory suggests that Stormfront may be directly tied to Homelander’s creation.
Although not in the traditional sense of motherhood, it may be possible that he may carry her genetic material. We have known since Season 3 that Soldier Boy’s sperm were used to create Homelander, but the identity of his mother has remained unknown.
But given Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s connection, which will also be the subject of the upcoming prequel Vought Rising, there is a growing chance that she might be Homelander’s mother. Here’s a deep dive into why this fan theory seems highly plausible.
Why Stormfront Might Be the Source Code for Homelander

In The Boys comics, Stormfront’s DNA (who was a male there) was used to create Homelander, essentially making him a clone of the supe. While his mother had died during childbirth, he was raised by Jonah Vogelbaum in the Vought lab. But in the series, the question of his parentage remains up for debate.
Stormfront, who was once known as Liberty, was one of the first people to receive Compound V, essentially making her the first and the oldest supe. During the 60s and 70s, Stormfront and Soldier Boy were pretty active and knew each other.
As revealed in Season 3, during the Herogasm episode, they were the ones who founded the annual o*gy in 1952. So it is entirely possible that they might be Homelander’s parents in the series.
If not, Stormfront is the first of the supes and truly powerful. We also know that Soldier Boy donated his sperm back in the 1980s. Vought might have used Stormfront’s genetic material to create the ultimate Supe, especially since Stormfront did suspiciously disappear during the time Homelander was born.
It would explain Homelander’s flight, invulnerability, and his status as the pinnacle of supe evolution. If this theory holds water, it adds a pretty sickening layer of irony to his and Stormfront’s s*xual relationship in Season 2. It would be peak The Boys moment if she turns out to be his mother, which is exactly the kind of stomach-churning social commentary that the show thrives on.
At the same time, this also provides a psychological explanation for Homelander’s infamous, unsettling obsession with mother’s milk. His subconscious may have always been searching for the maternal connection he was denied in a laboratory.
Vought Rising Might Explain Homelander’s True Parentage
Soldier Boy and Homelander | Credits: Prime VideoThe Boys prequel, Vought Rising, is set in the 1950s and follows a younger Soldier Boy and Clara Vought/ Liberty (aka Stormfront) in a twisted murder mystery filled with the usual gore and blood. The series will explain how Vought International came into power and became as powerful as it is today.
While it would be interesting to see the early days of Vought, one thing the show can do is delve into Homelander’s parentage. Given that the show is planned to have multiple seasons (via Deadline), the larger The Boys universe will benefit if the show expands on the already established lore.
Moreover, if there was ever a place to confirm how Vought approached genetic engineering and whether Stormfront’s DNA was preserved or replicated, Vought Rising serves as the perfect show.
Not only would it clear the biggest mystery regarding one of modern TV’s most famous villains of all time, but it would also explain why he is positioned as Vought’s ultimate achievement. It will also connect the timelines, making the narrative more interesting and becoming the kind of boundary-pushing lore the show often explores.
As of now, The Boys has not explicitly confirmed that Stormfront’s DNA was used in Homelander’s creation, but the pieces are there if the show ever wants to follow this route.
