The Best Action Movie of 2026 Officially Sets New August Release Date

The Furious, easily the best action movie this year, can soon be enjoyed right in your home. It is getting a physical media release. Even if you have seen one of the finest martial arts movies ever, this gives you a chance to see it in the comfort of your home. It will come with the kind of technical package that does justice to Kenji Tanigaki‘s brutal, bone-crunching genre exercise.

The release should be particularly exciting for movie buffs who prefer to own their favorite movies rather than relying on the fickleness of streaming availability. The release is a 4K Blu-Ray edition. And that means it is intended to recreate the best theater-like experience right in your living room.

The Furious Finally Gets a Physical Release

The Furious, which released back in June, will get its physical media release on August 11, 2026. If you are a fan of action movies, or even great movies in general, you can add The Furious to your collection after its theatrical run. The Hong Kong action film is about a man called Wang Wei (Xie Miao). He has to team up with Navin (Joe Taslim) to battle a criminal syndicate after his daughter is kidnapped. 

The Furious, which is one of the best action movies featuring Joe Taslim, was especially praised for its action choreography and pitch-perfect, relentless action sequences. This is particularly notable in a year that’s otherwise dominated by CGI-packed blockbusters. FandomWire’s Matt Hambidge gave it 9 out of 10 in his review, and wrote that the movie is “a brutal, no-holds barred action thrill ride. For fans of the genre, this will be one of the best times you have at the movies this year.”

The movie has a Tomatometer score of 98%, which says everything you need to know about the kind of critical reception this movie received.  

The 4K Blu-ray Comes Packed With Action-Packed Extras

The 4K Blu-ray release of The Furious does not just come with the movie itself. It features bonus material. This includes a documentary titled A Storm of Carnage: Creating The Furious that will give behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the movie. 

The biggest selling points of the movie are, after all, its action choreography and physical performances by the leads. Behind-the-scenes material can offer more insight into what went into making those scenes. As per Physical Media News, the release also includes the featurette Five-Man Brawl, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailer. In short, it is the complete package.
