Episode 3, titled “Blood for My Bone“, picks up exactly where Episode 2 left Ichigo – pinned under the sheer weight of Yhwach’s power with nothing left to swing back with. That’s precisely the moment Studio Pierrot chooses to let Ichigo break. Cornered inside Wahrwelt, he draws on the pressure Yhwach keeps piling onto him and finally cracks open the transformation manga readers have waited years to see animated: the Horn of Salvation.

It’s not a clean power-up: Ichigo’s Zanpakuto constantly flickers, turning white before Orihime shields him from a massive attack. When Orihime asks if he has a plan, Ichigo reveals that he has been using his Zanpakuto to absorb Yhwach’s immense Quincy spiritual pressure to forcefully awaken his inner Hollow, ultimately triggering his new form. This is where the episode leaves his side of the battlefield for now.

The Captains Unite Against the Terrifying Power of the Miracle

Gerard Valkyrie is already walking around the Seireitei as a giant and wreaking havoc; the Visored members could only hide and buy time to strike. While they do unanimously launch an attack, Gerard tanks it and clotheslines them. Just as he was about to finish them, his hand freezes as we see the return of Toshiro Hitsugaya. In the same episode, we return to a completely frozen Gerard who breaks free from the ice and attacks Toshiro.

However, the attack never connects as a flutter of cherry blossoms strikes his hands: Byakuya Kuchiki enters the battle. Byakuya’s Senbonzakura Kageyoshi and Hitsugaya’s Hyoryusenbi Zekku look genuinely spent by the time Gerard starts closing the distance, and there’s a real sense that two captain-class Shinigami simply aren’t enough. That’s when Kenpachi Zaraki crashes into the fight and takes over without so much as asking. It’s a classic Kenpachi entrance – blunt, confident, and immediately backed up by action rather than words. He severs Gerard’s hand, which eventually grows back.

However, the true potential of The Miracle comes into play when Gerard charges them with his Hoffnung. As the three captains manage to nick his signature broadsword, they are the ones ending up with cuts. We are left with a massive cliffhanger where the three captains are standing together with a massive Gerard Valkyrie towering over them.

Episode 3, “Blood for My Bone“, is the strongest episode of the final cour so far, mostly because it commits to two of Bleach‘s oldest strengths: transformation as character reveal, and raw, confident spectacle. Ichigo’s Horn of Salvation lands with the weight it deserves, treated as both a power spike and a moment of quiet reassurance between him and Orihime. Toshiro, Byakuya, and Kenpachi’s arrival, meanwhile, is pure adrenaline, turning the battlefield into the biggest battle of the series so far.

The only downside is one in this episode – nothing here actually concludes. Both fights are left hanging at their most exciting points, and depending on the pacing next week, that could read as either smart escalation or frustrating delay. Still, as a standalone episode of Bleach, this is close to must-watch, and it makes the wait for Episode 4 considerably harder.
