With The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 airing on April 15, 2026, we were met with disappointment yet again from Studio A-Cat and the TBATE animation team. What could have been a really good episode narratively turned into a choppy mess by consistently poor animation and a poor showcase of 3D CG.

If you are wondering why we coined the term “narrative overcrowding” in the title, as fans of the original manhwa and light novel series by TurtleMe, we felt the episode’s pacing was too fast, especially given that the presentation didn’t back it up. Nevertheless, here’s what actually went down in the latest episode of The Beginning After the End Season 2.
Spoiler Alert !!!
Spoilers from The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 up ahead.
A Storm Strands Arthur and Other Adventurers on a Deserted Island
The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 | Credits: Studio A-CatThe Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 begins with Arthur lying stranded on the beach of a random island. As he regains his senses, he remembers that while traveling on a mission, he and Jasmine were stuck in a storm and lost to the terrifying weather. Finding himself alone on the beach, Arthur rushes to find Jasmine, but instead finds Lucas and Elijah in a similar situation to his.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, Jasmine wakes up and looks for Arthur, but only finds two soldiers from the Wykes family who were separated from Lucas. Back to this side, after sending Sylvie on a quest to find Jasmine, Arthur sets up a camp and gathers food with help from Lucas and Elijah.
While they feasted on the food and planned to leave, Lucas revealed the mana beast that was living on the island with the powers to control the weather. While it was Lucas’ quest to find and eliminate the large mana beast, Arthur and Elijah volunteered to join him on the expedition.
A Strategic Showdown With a New Mana Beast’s Appearance
After finding the mana beast’s den, Lucas conjures a strong fireball and shoots it inside. However, instead of backing down, the attack only provoked the beast, which charged out of the den to attack them. With Arthur taking offense, Lucas on ranged attacks, and Elijah on defense, the three of them kept attacking the beast, but it kept on regenerating all the damage. Finding the strategy ineffective, Arthur decided to switch their positions.
After the strategic switch, it seemed that they were finally getting an upper hand on the giant salamander-like mana beast. However, while they were rejoicing in what they thought was a victory, the beast rose back up and took a stance for further attacks. With all of them drained of mana and strength, it was looking like a tough battle ahead, until Jasmine found them. She swiftly jumps in and beheads the beast in a single sword strike.
As they left the island and began their journey home, the episode shifts its focus to Tessia and her party, enjoying a meal in town. After being provoked by Vio and Fey, Tessia storms back to make another attempt at meeting Arthur. While it seemed like this was it, Arthur’s father, Reynolds, appeared, and Tessia was once again running away scared in TBATE Season 2 Episode 3.
The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 Final Verdict
Tessia from The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 | Credits: Studio A-CatComing to the critical analysis of the latest episode, I am just tired at this point with Studio A-Cat’s consistency in the worst of things. While we felt a sigh of relief by seeing some movement in the previous episode, this episode felt like going back to square one. The rigid and downright poor animation continues to curse the series, only this time accompanied by even worse 3D CG for the mana beast’s design.
It really feels hard to bear through the episodes; the only thing keeping it somewhat intact is the narrative itself. Even then, this episode felt especially overcrowded with too much rushed narrative – the mana beast fight could have easily carried forward to the next episode, making it more detailed and progressive. They just crammed in too much for something that they can’t even handle a decent animation for.

The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 3 Review: Narrative Overcrowding With Poor 3D CG Rendering
This episode was basically the perfect example of what a union of bad animation and even worse 3D CG looks like. What made it even disappointing for me was that it was quite narratively good.
