It was a busy long weekend for the OPP in Eastern Ontario as they charged numerous drivers, including a 16-year-old who was pulled over after a report of a car “intentionally drifting around the gravel parking circle” at Riverside Park in North Grenville.

Parents at the park reported the incident to police just after 2 p.m. Monday, the OPP said in a social media post.

“Parents attempted to get the driver to stop for obvious safety concerns,” the post read. “The driver fled the area and was quickly located by police.

“#StuntDriving has no place in a public park, especially when families are present,” police said on X. “Dangerous driving behaviour like this puts everyone’s life at risk.”

The teenager’s car was towed and impounded, and their licence has been suspended, the OPP said.

The Ottawa OPP detachment reported that four drivers had been charged with stunt driving after vehicles were clocked at excessive speeds on Highway 417 during the weekend. The speeds were 170 km/h, 160, 159 and 154, and the drivers now face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving suspension upon conviction, police said. They also received 30-day roadside driving suspensions and 14-day vehicle impounds.

Elsewhere, a G2 driver was stopped on Highway 401 in South Dundas after a vehicle was clocked at 182 km/h and another  driver was pulled over after a vehicle was caught doing 158 km/h on the 401 in South Stormont. Both vehicles were seized and both drivers had their licences suspended.
