To steal a ship, first, you need to disable its engine. Once the engine is broken, you will get the option to dock on the ship. Next, clear the entire ship by eliminating every crew member, so no one can stop you from stealing it. 

Once the ship has no crew member left, make way to the cockpit, sit on the pilot’s seat, and the ship will be yours technically. To make it concrete, land on any planet or perform at least one Garv Jump. These activities will establish your ownership of the ship. 

Well, there’s one thing you need to note. While this process seems easy, there’s a catch. If you want to acquire every ship you like, you have to unlock and upgrade your Piloting Skill. Therefore, spend points so your Piloting Skills reach level 4 as soon as possible.

Even if you have stolen the best ship of the game, you can’t sell it unless you have registered it. Registration of the ship is mandatory.

To begin this process, first visit a Ship Services Technician and interact with him. Ship Services Technicians can be found on almost every planet, close to the landing zones. This interaction will open the ‘View Ship’ option. From there, click on ‘Register’ to make the ship yours entirely. 

Now the twist is that the ship can’t be registered for free. Registering a ship requires fees. It’s a certain percentage of the ship’s value. Sometimes, this charge is equal to 90% of the ship’s value. Therefore, you must be prepared with a lot of Credits in your stock to register your ship. No, naturally, it’s not recommended when you have only a few Credits in possession. 

This process is expensive, but you can get a portion of your money back soon. Once the ship is registered, you can now immediately sell the ship to the same merchant to get your money back. Interact with him to get the ‘Sell‘ option. Confirm your choice and the ship will be sold.

Note that the selling price will vary from ship to ship based on their value. However, the registration process costs a huge amount of Credits, which substantially reduces the profit by selling the ship.
