The most anticipated anime of 2024, Solo Leveling Season 1 was a commendable success, and now the series is getting ready for its second season. The second season is scheduled to be released in January 2025, and it will focus on the further development of Sun Jinwoo’s story and the other characters within the narrative.
Among the other characters, the one who is much awaited is Cha Hae-In, the only female S-Rank Hunter in Korea and the vice-guild master of the Hunters Guild. Cha Hae-In is one of the most important characters in Solo Leveling, who is majorly noted for being the love interest for Sung Jinwoo, the protagonist of the story.
However, one of the biggest problems that hardcore Solo Leveling fans had with the series was that Chugong did not give much importance to Cha Hae-In’s character within the narrative. Thus, fans hope that the anime series might modify her character development and give her a chance to showcase her strength and gain significance as an individual character of Solo Leveling.
Cha Hae-In’s potential was lost in Solo Leveling manhwa
Although Cha Hae-In has only made a small appearance in the first season of the Solo Leveling anime series, she has already grabbed the attention of fans, and they hope that she gets more screen time in the second season. However, if the anime series follows the narrative exactly as the manhwa, Cha Hae-In might not get a chance to shine.
While the storyline does focus a great deal on Cha Hae-In’s character, it ultimately ends up making her look like the supporting character for Sung Jinwoo’s journey. She is limited to being the love interest of the protagonist, and her individual character development only focuses on her relationship with Sung Jinwoo.
She does get a few instances where she showcases her strength, but it is not enough for someone as strong as the only female S-Rank Hunter in Korea and the Vice-Guild Master of the Hunters Guild. Thus, fans believed that her potential as a powerful character was evidently lost in the Solo Leveling Manhwa’s storyline.
Solo Leveling anime needs to prioritize Cha Hae-In
Undermining a female character’s potential is not a new thing within the anime and manga industry. Characters like Sakura, Mikasa Ackermann, and Ochaco Uraraka have been the subjects of this injustice. But A-1 Pictures has an opportunity with Cha Hae-In to prevent her from becoming another name on this list.
Cha Hae-In is incredibly strong, and her individual storyline is quite intriguing considering other characters from Solo Leveling. Her special smell ability is unique among Hunters and could be put to good use within the narrative. That’s not all; she can also deservingly serve as the deuteragonist of Solo Leveling, considering her growth in the series.
In the end, it all depends on A-1 Pictures and Chugong and whether they make major modifications to the Solo Leveling storyline within the anime. Fans will find out about it in the second season as Cha Hae-In’s character becomes significant to the central narrative of the upcoming Solo Leveling storyline.
Solo Leveling is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
