Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, officers from the Frontenac OPP detachment responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Bedford Road, police said in a news release. They located the vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver didn’t comply.

Soon after, officers located the vehicle in a wooded area and found two people dead.

In its own release, the SIU said a man and a woman had been found deceased.

The provincial police watchdog indicated it had been shortly after midnight on Sept. 7 when an officer approached a male driver in a parked vehicle, which was later found to have been stolen. It said the collision occurred on Bedford, near Salmon Lake Road.

The SIU asked anyone who may have information that would help the investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php .
