Sean 'Diddy' Combs sent to suicide watch at NYC jail

Sean "Diddy" Combs has been placed on suicide watch at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center after his recent arrest on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution-related offenses.

According to People, this measure is a precautionary step taken as Combs, 54, reportedly remains in shock over his situation and faces uncertainty regarding his mental state.

Suicide watch is a standard practice in federal detention centers, aimed at providing frequent observation of inmates whose mental health is in question.

Authorities have not revealed how long Combs will remain on this heightened supervision or whether he has exhibited suicidal tendencies.

Combs was arrested earlier this week at the Park Hyatt New York by federal agents. Despite efforts from his legal team to secure house arrest, Manhattan federal Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied bail, citing the gravity of the charges.

He now awaits trial in the Metropolitan Detention Center, a facility notorious for its poor conditions, which has housed other high-profile detainees, including R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Jail conditions unsuitable?

Combs' lawyers have argued that the conditions of the jail are unsuitable for the music mogul, pointing to several recent deaths and violent incidents within the facility.

They referenced a murder that took place earlier this year and at least four suicides in the past three years as evidence of the dangerous environment.

The rapper faces allegations that he orchestrated disturbing "Freak Off" sex sessions, which involved women and male prostitutes engaging in sexual acts while Combs allegedly watched, participated, and filmed the events.

The indictment also claims Combs used drugs to manipulate and control his victims, often holding sessions that lasted for days. In March, federal agents raided his homes in Miami and Los Angeles, seizing over 1,000 bottles of lubricant and three AR-15 rifles.

As the case against Combs unfolds, public attention remains fixed on the shocking allegations and the rapper's mental state while in custody.
