Survivor host Jeff Probst‘s younger brother, Scott Probst, has passed away at the age of 58. The news came from Jeff’s other brother, Brent Probst, who took to Instagram on May 11, 2026, to inform everyone about the sad news. Brent’s post called Scott a “great brother, son and friend.” He further wrote, “I will miss him so much. I’m so sad he is gone.”
Jeff Probst has yet to make a public statement on his brother’s passing. As of writing, his cause of death hasn’t been revealed.
Scott Probst’s Career and His Role on Survivor

According to an IMDb page for Scott, he worked in multiple areas, such as the art department, the property department, and the camera and electrical department of the CBS show. It wasn’t the last time that Jeff had brought in a family member to the crew of the show. Brent Probst’s daughter, Abigail, joined the crew in 2024 and returned for the current 50th season.
Besides his stint on his brother’s show, most of his other credits were in the video game industry. He served as a production coordinator on Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (2003) and a producer on Medal of Honor: European Assault (2005) and Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight (2010).

Tributes for Scott Probst were shared under Brent Probst’s Instagram post. Survivor Season 33 winner Adam Klein wrote, “I am so terribly sorry Brent. Sending love to you and your whole family.” Teeny Chirichillo, who participated in the 47th season, also responded to the news, writing, “Thinking of you and your family. I’m so sorry.” Kendra McQuarrie from Season 45 wrote, “So so sorry for your loss. sending lots of love to the family.”
Brent’s daughter, Amanda Probst, shared a loving note for her late uncle, sharing, “There are no words to describe the sadness I feel. I love my uncle so much and will miss him every day. Love you forever Uncle Scott. I can’t believe I’m writing this.” In response, Brent wrote, “Scott loved you and Abby so much. Love you Amanda.” She is currently dating Season 45 runner-up Austin Li Coon.
Jeff was the oldest of three sons to Jerry and Barbara Probst. They moved from Wichita, Kansas, to Bellevue, Washington, when he was just 15 years old. In 2024, their mother, Barbara, passed away, and Survivor paid a tribute to her. An on-screen in memoriam for her read, “Dedicated to Barb, the biggest ‘Survivor’ fan of all time. See you on our next adventure.” Brent called her “the best mom, grandma and just a fantastic person full of love and life” in his Instagram tribute.
