Rumer Willis scores major win in bitter custody battle against ex Derek Richard Thomas

Rumer Willis was granted primary physical custody of her and ex Derek Richard Thomas’ daughter, Louetta, after she accused him of domestic violence.

The exes agreed to a custody evaluation and joint custody, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Thursday.

Additionally, Thomas received a custody schedule, granting him supervised visits with the 3-year-old every other weekend starting on June 20.

Per the outlet, one of Willis’ nannies will be present with Louetta and Thomas.

Later on, the musician will be granted overnight visits with no supervision.

The actress, 37, and Thomas, 40, were also ordered to attend co-parenting counseling and communicate through a designated co-parenting platform.

Reps for Willis and Thomas weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.

The ruling comes after the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore accused Thomas of “incessant domestic violence,” which he has denied, in a bombshell court filing last month.

In the documents, Rumer detailed a “persistent pattern” of “insane emotional abuse” she experienced in front of their daughter, leading up to her and Thomas’ 2024 breakup.

“He engaged in ongoing coercive control through prolonged circular verbal attacks that he is unable or unwilling to stop,” the “Sorority Row” star alleged, claiming that she would “walk on eggshells” around him.

“[He] engages in this type of attack for over six hours at a time on what became a daily basis,” she continued. “He wanted to isolate me from my friends and family. He constantly called me a liar with no reason behind it. He told me I was a bad girlfriend all the time.”

According to Rumer, her ex’s decisions left Louetta “traumatized” and “crying a lot.”

Moore also backed her daughter’s claims, detailing in court documents how he allegedly “appears to want to dictate and control Rumer’s environment to his needs,” alleging that she overheard Thomas “berate and angrily complain to Rumer” shortly after their daughter was born in 2023.

Thomas, however, vehemently denied the allegations against him, stating, “I have committed no acts of domestic violence in any form, including any active coercive control.”

“[Our] relationship was unhealthy and appropriately came to an end, but it was not at all characterized by any violence, physical or emotional attacks or intimidation on my part,” he continued.

Additionally, Thomas accused Moore of threatening to “destroy” him the day of Louetta’s birth.

Thomas and Rumer, who debuted their romance in 2022 before splitting two years later, have been entangled in an ongoing custody battle since last year, when Thomas requested child custody and visitation rights in July 2025.
