PSG transfer news: Kvaratskhelia blow and new Dembele injury could force January signing

Paris Saint-Germain bushed Barcelona 4-2 connected Tuesday nighttime successful the Champions League, but the French nine mislaid 2 attackers successful the battle, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The bully quality for Paris is that they managed to predominate 1 of Europe’s in-form teams, having already sent a connection against Manchester City (4-2) successful the erstwhile circular of Champions League fixtures.

But connected Wednesday morning, Paris Saint-Germain indispensable supra each archer themselves that Luis Enrique’s squad has suffered excessively overmuch harm to afloat bask the victory: too Marquinhos, the French nine have mislaid Dembele and Kvaratskhelia to injury.

While 3 options contiguous themselves to Paris Saint-Germain to regenerate the Georgian implicit the agelong term, the main question astatine the infinitesimal is whether the Ligue 1 leaders should motion an attacker this winter.

Without Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres excessively isolated for Paris Saint-Germain

This season, Luis Enrique has fundamentally fielded 2 players up front: the 2025 Ballon d’Or victor and Ferran Torres.

A starter against Barcelona connected Tuesday, Dembele was rapidly forced disconnected with an wounded (20th minute). The muscular occupation is expected to support him retired for respective games, but determination is nary existent clarity connected the magnitude of his absence.

The attacker’s repeated injuries could extremity up convincing Paris Saint-Germain to motion an further striker.

Torres would go the fig 1 successful the position, beardown aft a stunning commencement to the play (10 games, 7 goals, 1 assist), but the 2026 satellite champion would person nary nonstop replacement, particularly if Paris besides person to bash without Kvaratskhelia, who is sometimes fielded centrally.

The injured winger besides requires a replacement connected the left, for illustration Desire Doue, who has been fielded erstwhile up beforehand by Luis Enrique this season. In short, Paris Saint-Germain without Dembele person a existent shortage astatine striker, and a signing is needed.

Solutions connected some wings for Paris Saint-Germain

On the near arsenic connected the right, Paris Saint-Germain are a small little abbreviated of options, though Kvaratskhelia is feared to person suffered a cruciate ligament rupture successful the knee.

If that is confirmed, the Georgian could beryllium replaced by Doue, who has been utilized connected the close this season, oregon by Mika Godts (21), a summertime signing who has nevertheless been underwhelming this season, with 1 assistance successful 7 games.

On the right, Paris Saint-Germain broke the slope for Maghnes Akliouche (£42.5m (€50m)), whose Paris debut has been acold from uninteresting, with 8 starts successful 12 games, 2 goals and 1 assist.

If determination is simply a signing, connected the near oregon close depending connected Luis Enrique’s choices (will helium enactment Doue successful Kvaratskhelia’s place?), it points much towards a winger who is apt to beryllium a substitute than an undisputed fig one. Paris Saint-Germain’s spending connected wingers this summertime (£81m (€95m)), and the quality of the wintertime transportation window, wherever it is harder to onshore a imaginable starter, constituent to that option.
