Porn star Jay Hefner shot to death protecting cousin: ‘A SHINING LIGHT’

Porn star Jay Hefner was murdered as he tried to protect his cousin in what his heartbroken family called a “senseless act of gun violence.”

According to cops, Hefner — whose real name is Saiveon Hopkins — had travelled from Ontario, California for a birthday bash in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, as Hefner tried to protect a cousin from violence outside a Lincoln watering hole, the 24-year-old was shot. He died about four hours later in a local hospital.

Another man, believed to be in his 40s, was also shot. He is recovering from his injuries.

His girlfriend, Madi Murchison, said on Instagram she “instantly broke down” when his mother called with the news.

“I’ve never felt this type of hurt and idk (I don’t know) how to get through it,” she said, adding that Hefner was her “safe space” and a man who “showed me love I’ve never experienced.”

She added: “This one hurts, my heart is completely broken… you made sure to vocalize your love every single day.”

According to the Internet Adult Film Database, Hefner entered the porn business in 2022 and appeared in at least 71 videos in addition to his OnlyFans page.

Recently, he completed a course to become a “veneer tech” in dentistry. Hefner was also the father of a 10-month-old daughter who “adored” her daddy and his terminally ill mother, Jeni.

A GoFundMe page said the star cared for his daughter, mom and younger siblings. It has already surpassed its $25,000 goal.

“It’s never easy to lose a loved one but losing a child is the most painful loss one can ever experience,” page organizer and his mother’s friend, Kyra Miller, wrote.

“My close friend Jeni Brown lost her son due to a senseless act of gun violence while trying to protect his cousin from physical violence. Saiveon was a shining light that was there for everyone who loved him.”

Besides his work in adult cinema, Hefner also worked as a model.

“We had so much planned. I love you so much Saiveon I’m lost for words,” his girlfriend wrote.

“There’s absolutely no words that can explain the love I have for you, but you know what it was about us. Rest up I’ll make sure you’re never forgotten. Forever us.”
