Ottawa police are investigating a shooting that happened on Monday night in the city’s west end, though no victims have been identified.

Officers on patrol heard the sound of shots being fired in the Tanglewood area around 10:30 p.m., Ottawa Police Service said in a news release Tuesday. At the scene, officers found shell casings and “other evidence that was seized” near the entrance of Tanglewood Park in Nepean.

Police say several vehicles fled the area before officers arrived.

“At this time, no victim(s) have been identified nor have attended Ottawa-area hospitals,” the news release said. “If anyone is aware of someone injured, please call 911.”

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5050.
