Win and they’re in.
That’s the scenario the Redblacks will be facing Saturday afternoon when they visit Tim Hortons Field to take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, against whom a victory will clinch a playoff spot for Ottawa.
The Redblacks, who entered the current campaign with a 14-54 record in their past four seasons, haven’t participated in post-season play since 2018, when they lost to the Calgary Stampeders in the Grey Cup.

The Redblacks, who have lost just once in their past eight outings and sit second in the East standings with record of 8-3-1, are three points behind the division-leading Montreal Alouettes with a game in hand.
A victory against the 3-9-0 Tiger-Cats will reserve the Redblacks a spot in the playoffs because it would eliminate the chance of a team from the West getting in on the crossover.
For the fourth-place team in one division to qualify for the playoffs via the crossover, it has to finish with more points than the third-place team in the other division.

That means if Ottawa wins Saturday, the fourth-place team in the West would need to end up with 20 points, which is mathematically impossible.
The Tiger-Cats, who are coming off a bye week, ended a four-game losing streak when they defeated the Toronto Argos on home turf 31-28 on Labour Day Monday.
In their only meeting with Hamilton this season, the Redblacks prevailed 24-22 on June 30 at TD Place.
