crashOPP hands out dozens of tickets Saturday to drivers using their cellphones while passing an overturned transport truck. ott

It was a sort of fish in a barrel event Saturday for provincial police at the site of a transport truck and trailer rollover on Hwy 401 westbound at Shannonville Road near Belleville.

A total of 18 drivers — including two transport truckers — received a $615 “reminders” to stay off their phones and focus on the road, as they passed the accident scene.

All 18 drivers were suspected of videoing the crash site while operating their vehicles

“Your attentiveness to driving helps keep emergency workers safe at these scenes,” OPP said in a social message.
