The OPP are investigating after a threatening phone message was received by a school in Petawawa.
The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment is looking into the matter after “an anonymous threat to use a firearm at a school” was made, police said in a news release Monday.
Officers responded to the school at about 8:30 a.m. Monday after the school received the call. The threat had not been substantiated at the time the release was issued, police said.
“The public can expect an increased police presence in the area to ensure public safety,” the release read.
Details about the name of the school and its exact location were not released.
“The OPP take all public safety threats seriously,” the OPP said. “Police and school officials continue to work together to support students and staff to ensure a safe learning environment.”
