After Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson announced his team-up with Chris Evans in a film titled Red One. It was a Christmas flick which premiered in the November of 2024. Unfortunately, it failed terribly at the global box office.

According to IMDb, the film earned a total of $184 million at the global box office. The reviews were terrible and critics weren’t too impressed with the Dwayne Johnson film.

Something changed, however, when the film debuted on Prime Video. According to a report by CBC, the film pulled in a record-breaking 50 million viewers as of December 2024. The film was a box office failure but for streaming platforms, Red One became an audience puller.

Following the story of a villain kidnapping Santa Claus from the North Pole, the heroes go on a journey to save Claus and make Christmas happen. The film was an action/comedy flick that became people’s favorite after it debuted on the streaming platform, and not while it was in theaters.

This potentially means that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has the perfect chance to return to the WWE. Since the wrestling company has changed its home from television to streaming platforms, The Rock might just have a wrestling revival.

WWE has now shifted to Netflix. More specifically, WWE Raw has shifted to Netflix. The iconic show which had been airing on television for several decades has now taken on the modern world of streaming.

Dwayne Johnson even took to his Instagram to announce that he will be appearing in Raw on Monday night at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome. The actor wrote in the caption:

After 20 years of proudly carrying our culture with me around the world, I can’t wait to soon return back home to Samoa. I already have chills just thinking about it.

This could potentially mean that The Rock could have a much-needed return to the WWE, especially since it’s on Netflix. As mentioned earlier, Dwayne Johnson is indeed an audience-puller as his charisma remains unmatched. All in all, it will be a fun year for the world, especially if The Rock were to make a comeback in the WWE.

Despite the box office collections, Red One currently stands at a rating of 6.4/10 on IMDb and a record low of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
