Shortly after 6 p.m., patrol officers from the Abbotsford Police Department came to the encampment, located on South Fraser Way, after somebody reported a fire.

They were soon joined by firefighters, who put out the fire in “a single wooden structure;” inside, a man was found dead.

“Further investigation has confirmed this incident to be a homicide,” Abbotsford Police said in a news release, and confirmed that officers had arrested one man in connection with the deadly fire. “(Police) can confirm this was an isolated and targeted incident and the public is not at risk.”
