GOOD AND BAD
Re “The trouble with Tories” (Warren Kinsella, April 12) Trying to compare today’s political climate to past historical events is like comparing apples to oranges – they’re kinda the same but different. Society’s make-up is completely different today. Turning a minority to a majority is alienating half the population regardless of polls that seem to influence all political decisions to the detriment of doing what’s right sometimes. Most state-sponsored media paint Mark Carney as the saviour, while Pierre Poilievre’s framing from the same media insists he’s the mean devil reincarnate. They say you get what you deserve – unfortunately for us it seems we have an old, tired government with a brand new paint job on the outside and the same problems on the inside. Politicians, it seems, put clinging to power before ethics and values – but, hey, that’s just how I see it. Hypocrisy is alive and well in our system.

(The Conservatives will never form government unless and until they gain more seats in eastern Canada. It’s an unfortunate truth)
BLOCK HEAD
Re “T.O. firefighters melt the ice” (Mark Daniell, April 23): So, Drake uses his prominence to create a juvenile publicity stunt, endangering people, and causing the police and fire department to quell the problem that Drake carelessly caused. Will he be reprimanded? Of course not. Mayor Olivia Chow praised him as a great ambassador for Toronto. My birthday is fast approaching. I’m sure my massive block of ice in a public area will be met with the same interest and wonderment.

SLOW DOWN
To the driver who nearly hit me at the Christie St. and Yarmouth Rd. crosswalk: The flashing lights are not an invitation to speed up! Please obey the law, slow down, and stop. Otherwise, I’ll end up dead and you’ll end up in jail.

Toronto
(The key here – slow down. Traffic is impossible already in the city, an extra few seconds won’t make a difference)
