FC Schalke 04 have announced this afternoon that Mika Wallentowitz has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club.

As the newly promoted Bundesliga side can report that the 18-year-old has extended his contract with the Royal Blues until 2030.

The talented winger made his professional debut in October and has played in 13 games, with one assist in this second-division season.

While he hasn't played a significant role in the first team in recent months, the club's bosses had been pushing for an extension.

“Mika’s development is one of the most inspiring stories of the season. His intensity, speed, and versatility are key qualities for our style of football," says Youri Mulder, director of professional football.

“Mika is a very young player who knows exactly what he still needs to work on. We will remain in close contact with him to find the best path for his development together," he added.
