Noel Futkeu wins 2. Bundesliga top scorer award before rejoining Eintracht Frankfurt

Noel Futkeu helped Greuther Fürth clinch a playoff spot with his 19 2. Bundesliga goals this season.

Greuther Fürth’s Noel Futkeu wins the 2. Bundesliga top scorer award with 19 goals. Despite his club fighting relegation all season, the 23-year-old striker had a breakthrough campaign that led to Eintracht Frankfurt activating their buyback option.

Futkeu scored each of Fürth’s previous seven goals before today’s game. Although Felix Klaus was the “Man of the Match” against his former club Fortuna Düsseldorf, Futkeu scored the third goal as Heiko Vogel’s side did exactly what was expected from them to go over their visitors, winning by three goals.

As a result, Branimir Hrgota and Futkeu will now have two more games as Fürth players. The Green and Whites will hope to retain their 2. Bundesliga status with a playoff win against Rot-Weiss Essen, who have finished third in 3. Liga.

Futkeu was born in Essen, and he had a spell in RW Essen’s youth team before joining Eintracht Frankfurt’s second team in 2023. He has only made one appearance for Frankfurt’s first team, but he’s now expected to fight for his place after rejoining the club for a mere €1.3 million. There is also a possibility that Markus Krösche plans for an instant profit.
