Nintendo Switch 2 Needs its Own Soulslike, Not Scraps from Xbox and PS5: We Have a Solution

With the elusive Nintendo Switch 2 seemingly right around the corner, many continue to wonder just what the successor to one of the best-selling consoles of all time would be like.

Now that rumors of it being announced within the next six weeks has rekindled the humanity of a lot of near-hollowed Switch fans, you know what would make this next-gen console truly shine? Fixing its predecessor’s lack of Soulslike titles – and we’ve got the perfect solution for this rather easy problem to solve.

Blasphemous 1 and 2, a regular Catholic’s worst nightmare, have garnered widespread praise for their unique take on the genre, narrative, richly detailed pixel art, and atmosphere that evoke feelings of religious horror and crisis of faith.

Not only that, but each game’s tight combat, along with some of the best Metroidvania-esque platforming, exploration, and mechanics, puts them both right up there as must-try Souls experiences outside FromSoftware’s own offering on the Nintendo Switch.

Considering that most within the community agree that experiencing Blasphemous on the Nintendo Switch is the best way to go about it, our pitch is that Nintendo should reach out to Team17 to secure an exclusive or timed-exclusive deal for Blasphemous 3.

Even if Blasphemous 2 provided a solid enough conclusion with its “true ending,” finishing the Penitent One’s penitence on a satisfying note, there’s an unimaginable large room for more stories within this dark and twisted world that one can tell.

In the end, not only is the lore of Blasphemous rich and immersive, but its gameplay is perfectly suited for a console like the Switch, and a third installment could serve as a key title in making the Switch 2’s launch lineup even more of a success than it already would be.

Outside of Blasphemous, What Else Can We Expect From Nintendo Switch 2’s Lineup?

Suppose Nintendo’s next console truly is coming out within the next. In that case, PlayStation and Xbox are assuredly in a lot of trouble, considering how both platforms’ reputations continue to sink deeper into the abyss these days.

But if Team Red wants to put the final nail in this coffin, a successful launch with an unbelievably strong lineup is a must.

Fans are already hoping that the Switch 2 will bring with it some new all-timers in the form of first-party titles like a new 3D Super Mario title, presumably a sequel to Odyssey, along with enhanced versions of existing hits like Bayonetta 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Monster Hunter, and Xenoblade Chronicles.

There’s also talk of other Soulslike games, such as one of the most anticipated games of all time, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and a potential sequel to Salt and Sacrifice, both of which could see ports to the new console. We could also be looking at FromSoftware completing the Dark Souls trilogy on the Switch with simple ports of the old games.

If even half of these games end up constituting the console’s launch lineup, we could be looking at a true winner of this generation. Nintendo Switch already dominated the two generations it was a part of, and if Switch 2 makes the landing, we’re undoubtedly going to get another best-selling console of all time.
