A 37-year-old man from Winchester was pronounced dead in an Ottawa hospital after a motorcycle collided with a trailer being towed by a pickup truck in the Spencerville area.

On Friday, Aug. 28, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to reports of a collision on County Road 7 near Crump Road. Initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle collided with the rear of the trailer, a subsequent news release said.

The motorcycle rider was airlifted by Air Ornge to an Ottawa-area trauma centre, but was later pronounced deceased, the release added.

No other injuries were reported.

County Road 7 was closed between County Road 3 and Boyne Road for several hours, but later reopened.

The investigation remained ongoing Saturday. Anyone with information or dashcam video relevant to the incident was asked to contact Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry detachment of the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

On Saturday, another motorcycle-vehicle collision near Brockville sent two people to hospital with what the OPP described as non-life-threatening injuries.

That collision resulted in the closure of County Road 15 in both directions between Highway 401 and County Road 2 for a couple of hours. It reopened just before 3:30 p.m.
