The husband of a missing Virginia nurse was deemed a flight risk and remains in jail following his wife’s disappearance a month ago.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt, the 28-year-old wife of Naresh Bhatt, 37, has not been seen since late July. The couple also share a one-year-old daughter.
Initially a missing persons case, the investigation has turned into a murder probe after investigators with the Manassas Park Police Department allegedly found dried blood in the couple’s bedroom and bathroom, prosecutors said.

However, the body of the missing woman has not been found.
Naresh was arrested last Thursday and charged with concealing a dead body.
According to InsideNOVA.com, prosecutors laid out grisly details in court Monday that Naresh allegedly did online searches four months ago concerning a spouse’s death.
Naresh is alleged to have searched Google with questions such as “how long does take to get married after spouse dies” and “what happen in the event of dying spouse.”
Prosecutors also alleged that Naresh bought knives and cleaning supplies from a Walmart around the time of her disappearance. He sold his Tesla and attempted to sell his house as well.
Naresh’s attorney countered that prosecutors are missing an important piece of evidence: Mamta’s body.

The lawyer played a clip in court of state attorney Amy Ashworth when asked if Mamta was alive or dead.
“We don’t know. We don’t know. But we are working this investigation. We are working carefully and there’s just a lot of things moving very quickly right now. There’s nothing else I can say,” Ashworth replied, according to Fox 5 DC.

Prosecutors told the court that evidence found inside the home was collected using technology to detect blood not visible to the naked eye.
During the hearing, court heard that police were called to the family home in February for reports of “disorderly” conduct.
The prosecutor said cops spoke to Mamta, who said Naresh allegedly “would not give her her documents and destroyed her phone.”
An unnamed friend of Mamta also told police that the missing woman was “depressed” at the time and allegedly a victim of domestic abuse who “suffered bruises” in the months leading to her disappearance.
Police continue their investigation of the missing woman and were back at the family’s Manassas Park home on Tuesday.
