Megyn Kelly is backing up Sydney Sweeney after the actress received backlash for appearing nude in ads promoting sports prediction app Novig.

“She’s hot … I don’t get it,” Kelly said on a recent edition of her SiriusXM program The Megyn Kelly Show. “Since the dawn of time, we’ve been selling sports to men by using sexy women in ads that air during the sporting events, in the bars where they watch the sporting events, in products around the sporting events.”
Men “like sports and beer and sexy women,” Kelly said, calling Sweeney’s ad a “predictable leftist meltdown.”
“This is not particularly controversial … Until now, until this year, until Sydney Sweeney is the woman, I guess, who is a registered Republican and did the controversial jeans ad, so she must be punished,” she said.

Kelly played the ad, in which Sweeney says the site will be strictly about sports.
“No betting on wars or deaths, and no politics,” Sweeney says, covering up her private parts. “Just you, your takes and sports.”
Sweeney’s ad sparked an outcry among female athletes, including British sprinter Amy Hunt and former U.S. gymnast Gracie Kramer.
After Hunt finished fourth in the 200 metres final at the Ultimate Athletics Championship in Budapest, she said “this is what women in sport look like.”
Kramer shared a video showing her playing a number of sports, including football, golf, and baseball with the caption: “Idk (I don’t know) what Sydney Sweeney was doing, but this is what a woman in sports looks like.”
In a post on her Instagram, four-time Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus called Sweeney’s campaign a “kick in the face.”
Kelly’s guest Emily Jashinsky, host of After Party, said the athletes should be less angry with Sweeney’s ad and more upset that the actress is getting men addicted to sports gambling.

“If I looked like that, I’d be doing nude ads too … Nobody is taking a shot at female athletes … She never purported to be a woman in sports,” Kelly agreed.
Kelly also hit out at critics, calling them “judgy” and saying that the criticism was largely fuelled by the fact that Sweeney is a Republican.
But the former Fox News host hasn’t always been supportive of Sweeney.
Earlier this year, Kelly took aim at Sweeney’s story arc in Season 3 of Euphoria that finds her character Cassie entering the world of OnlyFans,
In one scene, Sweeney appears in babydoll-style lingerie while sucking on a pacifier.
“She’s dressed as a baby,” Kelly seethed on an April 14 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, according to USA Today. “She’s in a baby’s outfit, she’s sucking on a binkie, and her legs are completely spread … This is sexualizing infancy. That’s what this is.”
Sweeney clapped back at critics
Sweeney appeared to respond after catching heat for the ads.
After some critics took aim at her ad, Sweeney posted a carousel of images to Instagram in which she posed nude, holding footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, a tennis racquet and baseball bat.

“It’s gamedayyyy,” the blond bombshell wrote, tagging the sports platform.
Sweeney also shared a gallery of images to her Instagram Story that showed magazine covers of ESPN’s Body Issue featuring athletes like Serena Williams, Ronda Rousey, Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, Caroline Wozniacki and Rob Gronkowski all posing nude.
Her partnership with Novig is, in Sweeney’s own words, “about embracing a fun idea.” She added in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “The concept is simple: cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports. The campaign brings that idea to life with confidence, humour and a playful edge.”
