The Florida Panthers’ winger made his way to Raleigh on Monday night from his home in Fort Lauderdale to cheer on Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and his teammates.

Tkachuk was in the stands at the Lenovo Center for Game 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes, along with his parents, Keith and Chantal.

“I be boots on the ground for one of Brady’s games this series,” Matthew told the Wingmen podcast he does with Brady. “Time to return the favour.”

Brady was often seen cheering on Matthew when he was with the Calgary Flames and during his two playoff runs to win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Panthers.

Matthew and his wife, Ellie, recently welcomed their first child, daughter Camille Marie, into the world. Brady said last week he hoped to see Matthew in the stands, but understood that he would likely be taking care of matters at home.

“That’s been brought up so I expect to see him on the road,” Brady said last Tuesday in Ottawa. “He’s got his family stuff going on, so we’ll see if he comes up here.”
