Matrix, John Wick star Keanu Reeves is coming to Vancouver this summer — but it's not to film

The alternative rock band is made up of Reeves on bass and backing vocals, Robert Mailhouse on drums and Bret Domrose on guitar and lead vocals.

Dogstar formed in 1991 after Reeves, who grew up in Toronto, met fellow actor and musician Mailhouse at a grocery store in Los Angeles.

The pair started playing music together, adding guitarist and singer Gregg Miller in 1992.  Domrose joined the band as a guitarist in 1994 and took over as lead singer when Miller departed in 1995.

The band toured, including a stop at Glastonbury in 1999, and released a debut studio album Our Little Visionary (1996) followed by their second album Happy Ending (2000).

The band called it quits in 2002 and then reunited in 2020 to write songs, eventually returning to the stage in 2023. Later that same year they released the album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees.

As for his day job, Reeves most recent project is Apple TV’s Outcome, the 2026 Jonah Hill-directed dark comedy about a damaged Hollywood star looking to start over. He is also back as the hilarious voice of Duke Caboom in Toy Story 5.

In May, Reeves wrapped filming on a sci-fi feature directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool). In an interview with Collider, Reeves summarized the upcoming action movie, set to be released next summer, in five words: “Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day.”
