A man was killed when his car crashed into a tree in a residential neighbourhood in Scarborough on Friday evening.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the area of Goldhawk Tr. and Bridport Cr. – northwest of McCowan Rd. And McNicoll Ave. – around 7:30 p.m.

“It is reported that a 42-year-old man was operating a 2011 Honda, eastbound on Goldhawk Trail at Bridport Crescent,” police said in a statement released on Saturday. “The Honda left the road and struck a tree.”
The car came to rest on the grass boulevard out front of a house.
Driver’s side airbag deployed
The vehicle’s front end was smashed in and the deployed driver’s side airbag could be seen.
Police said the driver was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
“The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services,” police added.

Investigators looking for witnesses and video
Police are asking local residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dashcam video footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
