I heard the Volkswagen battery plant in St. Thomas is going to start pouring concrete. Road rehabilitation in and around St. Thomas has been going for some time now. Billions of taxpayers’ money wasted all across Canada for climate change that’s been happening for thousands of years. Pfft! Trudeau’s EV mandate will never fly by 2035, it’s delusional at best. There is no infrastructure to support this B.S.! What happens when you try to charge millions of vehicles at the same time? Puff puff pass!

Roy Banman
St. Thomas

(It’s a policy Trudeau seems to have latched onto because it was announced in the U.S. No real thought and planning has gone into it — just more pronouncements from a PM who is well beyond his best-before date)

LUMBERING ISSUES

Re “Trade minister criticizes higher softwood duties” (The Canadian Press, Aug. 15): Justin Trudeau called Joe Biden a great friend of Canada. Biden cancelled the pipeline on his first afternoon in office. He has pressured our governments into subsidizing battery plants. Now he has imposed a large increase on softwood lumber duties. Canada should not expect any better treatment regarding trade after the November U.S. election. Both parties are in a protectionist mood. Do we know who are friends are?

Rick Hird                                                                                                                                                       Whitby

(The Liberal government seemed to be taken off guard. You have to wonder what they are doing)

MAKE SOME SENSE

Why do Hamas and other weak people dislike Jewish people so much? Nobody has ever explained. Please explain.

Gary Dutchak                                                                                                                                                  Acton

(It’s hard to explain other than just hate)
