INTERNATIONAL FAME

Every century or so, a leader emerges from the shadows; one with incredible skills and foresight and the ability to reshape the world we live in. Enter Prime Minister Mark Carney as he sets about creating a new world order. The world watches in awe as he magically begins to inspire world leaders everywhere as his new world order begins to take shape. How fortunate and proud Canadians are to see him on the world stage as he methodically goes about his work. Meanwhile, back at home, we have a country in crisis with record numbers lining up at food banks, record debt and problems on all fronts, such as health care and housing. Hopefully, when Emperor Carney comes home for a while, he can start to get our house in order.

LEAFS WON’T CUT IT

By my calculations, Carolina, Montreal, Florida, Tampa Bay, Boston and Buffalo will all make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference this season. That means about eight teams, including the Leafs, will be fighting for the final two spots. Steve Simmons has five teams in from the Atlantic in the playoffs, so that means he already thinks the Leafs will not make the playoffs as only five teams can make the playoffs from one division.

Re “The day the music died and activism took over” (Editorial, Sep 19): So the two words that are very “near and dear” to Seattle-born rapper Macklemore’s heart are “free Palestine.” Hmm, as the church lady used to say: “Well, isn’t that special.” Besides the $1-million tour fee Macklemore supposedly donated to charities in Gaza, once he figures out where Gaza is on a map, he should travel there via Egypt and perform a free concert in Gaza City. However, I would strongly advise against a rooftop concert.
