NO SYMPATHY
Re “CBC flip-flop on calling 9/11 ‘terrorism” (Lorne Gunter, Aug. 30): Gunter writes: “Following the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas on Israel in 2023 that killed nearly 1,200, mostly civilians, the CBC refused to call the Hamas killers ‘terrorists.’ It repeated the terms used by Hamas sympathizers in Canada such as ‘freedom fighters.’” Well, as a long-time reader of the Toronto Sun and occasional published letter-writer, I’m somewhat confused. Why the sudden outrage with the rubbish the CBC spews? Besides the CBC, I’ve read international and breaking news coverage in the Toronto Sun (and other Postmedia publications) that uses content from the AP (Associated Press), Reuters, AFP (Agence France-Presse) and the Washington Post that still use the term “militants” to describe Hamas.

TRADE PROBLEMS
I moved to Ontario 37 years ago from Newfoundland. I still can’t buy my favourite brand of beer from Newfoundland in Ontario because of interprovincial trade barriers. But if Donald Trump implements international trade barriers, it’s detrimental to everyone, and he’s a bully. Time to get the cobwebs out!

BUTT KISSING
Re “Doug Ford tells Trump where to stick it, and takes the lead in polls (Aug. 26, Bryan Passifiume): Donald Trump shouldn’t be too quick to dismiss Ford’s keister-kissing invite, as he would be forfeiting a golden opportunity to become acquainted with the entire PC caucus.
