OPERATING IN THE SHADOWS
The Liberals are truly masters of deflection and unfortunately their political base is drinking the Kool-Aid. PM Mark Carney walked away from the tariff negotiations because the terms supposedly demanded by the U.S. negotiators undermined our sovereignty, language laws and restricted who we could trade with. When the Conservatives demanded to see the text of the negotiations, they were stonewalled and the documents were not produced. Why, if there was nothing to hide? To escape scrutiny, the Liberals then shifted their focus to the EU in pursuit of Carney’s sought-after Associate Membership status with the European Union. The terms of Canada’s membership obligations with the EU have not been presented. Both of these actions are politically motivated to create fear and enhance the Liberals as the stewards of Canadian values. Once again, vitriol, deflection and little background to support their actions. Shame on them.

(This is absolutely the Liberals’ playbook — and it keeps working. Eventually there will be a growing chorus of those demanding some transparency because we have seen this movie before when the federal government operates so secretly and with so little honesty, things go wrong)
HEALTHY LIVING
Ontario is not adequately funding our health-care system and on the path to losing 2,522 nurses and 2,407 hospital beds by 2028-29. Its present health-care budget of 101 billion projects a need for a 3.2 per cent annual increase, well below the 7.4 per cent average growth of the past three fiscal years. Ontarians already face long ER lines and lack of hospital beds and any underfunding makes things worse. Premier Doug Ford needs to soul-search and properly fund our health care because lives depend on it
