The political scene in Ontario is very quiet the last few weeks. Money seems very tight as the radios, newspapers and TV all focus on sadness of food banks for the hungry at Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, what will be the saddest part of the new fall is the Trudeau government that still does not see or hear the people of Canada. I will be very happy to see this party gone, hopefully for a long time in Canada. Those that do not hear or see need to disappear.

Wayne Robertson
Chatham

(We can give thanks our opportunity to throw the Trudeau Liberals out of office gets closer as each day passes)

REVOLVING DOOR OF INJUSTICE

Re “Convicted space engineer cleared to practise law while on parole” (Michele Mandel, Oct. 9): Where is the justice? Having spent almost 40 years in law enforcement, it is getting very difficult to recognize the deteriorating current justice system! The emphasis seems to be on getting those facing criminal charges or having been convicted of serious crimes back on the streets ASAP. So much for deterrence to others! How can the Law Society of Ontario condone this practice? Since Trudeau came to power almost 10 long years ago, serious crimes in Canada have risen. This is a direct result of Trudeau’s revolving-door justice system, including weak bail conditions, watered-down sentencing by judges acting more like social justice warriors than the adjudicators of the laws!

(If the Conservatives win the next election, criminal justice system reform must be a top priority)

OLIVIA’S FAILURE

Olivia Chow needs reminding, every time she looks out her office window at Nathan Phillips Square, that Phillips, the former Jewish mayor of Toronto, was known as “the mayor of all the people.” Big boots for her to fill, and she’s failing terribly!

Peter Birks
Mississauga

(No one should be surprised by Chow’s incompetence)

SEND IN THE ARMY

Re “The death of diversity is our strength” (Editorial, Oct. 9): Chants of “death to Canada?” This is incitement of hatred, rioting and treason against our country. This is where the army needs to step in because, God knows why, but our illustrious leader won’t.

J. Williams
Ajax

(How are so many of these hate groups just allowed to spew this on our streets unchecked?)
