I’m 80 years old and grew up in Toronto and there’s days now where I cry seeing what once was a vibrant city turned into a cesspool. Garbage everywhere, drug-addicted people wandering around, the homeless situation out of control, and all this council does is pat themselves on the back for doing nothing to deal with the problems that need fixing immediately. Please, for the sake of our city, vote for new people who will try to correct this mess that we are in. If you put the same people back in, it’s only going to get worse. Again, please think before you vote for name recognition only. Your vote can help bring back the city we once loved and were proud of. A vote for Olivia Chow and her council will only make matters worse.

(Well said. Maintaining the status quo does nothing but entrench the extreme left wing ideology already exercised by this council)

NOT SO SAFE SITE

To open up a “safe-injection site” for addicts and supply them with drug paraphernalia is equivalent to opening a bar for alcoholics and supplying them with clean glassware and swizzle sticks.

(How have no lessons been learned from this failed experiment?)

NO RESPECT FOR VETS

Re “How GardaWorld lobbying could cost thousands of Canadian veterans their jobs” (Brian Lilley, April 27): As a veteran of this country, the shameful way we are treated continues with the news that the Commissionaires first choice for government contracts is ending. As any vet who served after Korea will tell you, there is a two-tier system in place, as after Korea no veteran is recognized as a war veteran, no matter which conflict or the extent of injuries. The Commissionaires always seemed to be a choice for employment with fellow veterans, and as a possible way to work in dignity, a respect that this government has none of.

(This is one of the reversible decisions which would be in the best interest of all of us. Need to make some more noise about it)
