PAROLE BOARD OF SHAME
Re “His name was Bill Hancox” (Brad Hunter, April 30): If you look up the word feckless in the dictionary, you will see the Parole Board of Canada members. These supposedly intelligent, educated so-called experts are so out of touch with the real world. Do they not have any empathy for the widows and fatherless children left behind? The board’s recent decisions are so out of sync with the general public that they must live in a bubble. Not even a mention of the victims names is unbelievable and disgusting. Shame on them. We need to change the systems that give these offenders second and third chances that the victims do not get — not just for law enforcement victims but for all. I don’t know how they sleep at night.

(Week after week, the parole board fails. And where is the outrage? Where are the demands for reform? Surely the Liberals hear displeasure from their constituents about cases like this)
TIME FOR CHANGE
Re “Toronto desperately needs change at City Hall” (Brian Lilley, April 30): Not only Toronto! Take Ottawa. Please! Our city halls are full of leftovers. The majority of Ontario cities need a shakeup at city hall. Mayors and councillors have never run a successful business, never made fiscal bottom line, never finessed staff relations issues. Ah, but they are a caring lot, concerned with welfare payments, injection sites, bike lanes, raising taxes, and reducing crime through gentle caring and concern. That’s why municipal taxpayers need to invest heavily in home security, street self-defence, vehicular protection, and skilled accountants. Regardless of city, we do not elect our politicians because they are self-selected, approved by other politicians, pay their fees and are presented to us as the best available. Voters have only two choices – take it or leave it. Few bother voting so what we have at city hall are leftovers.
