GUN SHY
So, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow spoke to federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree about getting guns off the streets. Her first question should have been: Why are the Liberals spending hundreds of millions of dollars confiscating property from licence-holding, law-abiding gun owners when that money could have gone towards more police and more CBSA agents to attack the real problem of illegal guns? Ho hum, same old Liberal BS. Big talk, lots of money wasted, no results.

OFF TRACK
Re “Photo guidelines in eye of the beholder” (Ling Hui, July 16): Rarely does reading the newspaper make me laugh these days, but this was an exception. So, the European Broadcasting Union releases guidelines over its concerns that photographers and videographers are sexualizing photos of female track athletes. Then these morality warriors title their release “Raising the Bar.” Guess they didn’t think that one through too well, huh?

MISMANAGED
Enough is enough. How long before the Blue Jays show John Schneider the door? Do they even want to try to salvage this season? I’m tired of watching him put Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the second or third spot every game with the same miserable results. Give that kid Brandon Valenzuela more playing time. He’s earned it. Get rid of the hitting coaches who think bringing in a red dragon is the answer to their anemic offence. Schneider is too close to some of them to make the tough decisions.
