My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the devastating wildfires raging in the greater Los Angeles area. I am eternally grateful for the bravery of first responders who are doing everything in their power to contain these fires, save lives, and protect property.

A RISKY MOVE
As Justin Trudeau has made his intentions clear, there are a number of likely leadership contenders being floated to replace him. The prospect of entering the Liberal leadership race is alluring, this person will simultaneously become the prime minister of Canada. But there is also a clear reason not to enter the race, and that reason is humiliation. The fact is, the Liberals will suffer a historic defeat this year. Many of the would-be leadership candidates are unlikely to even win re-election.

STARTED AS A JOKE
Like watching a slow-moving train wreck in disbelief, I’ve watched a known bully make a joke which has now morphed into a matter for national discourse. I kept hoping that everyone would ignore him, because I knew a metaphorical squirrel would run past Trump’s motorcade and he’d be off and running at something else. I love his policies, but gosh, he can be tiring. All this posturing from the dailies, Ford, Musk, etc, makes me miss the days when we had serious people in public office. All this fuss and bother over what started as a joke. The only question that needs to be asked of anyone seriously thinking of absorbing Canada is: What colour would you like to paint 1600 Pennsylvania Ave this time? We’ll be nice guys and bring the paint when we come up the Potomac, as long as you hold off on the tariffs.
