POINTLESS NEGOTIATIONS
Are we really surprised that trade talks fell apart? Donald Trump said he could bring us economic misery. He has all but torn up CUSMA. He reneged on the Gordie Howe bridge. Now, he has blown up the latest trade talks. I understand that the U.S. is our biggest trading partner, and we need each other, but you cannot negotiate with them right now.

(Even had a deal been struck, would they have even adhered to it?)
FIGHT BACK NOW
I have never voted Liberal and never will, but I applaud Mark Carney for his stand on the new trade deal, and agree that no deal is better than a bad deal, but I wonder why our retaliation does not start until Sept. 8. We have to show ‘The Bully’ Canada will not be pushed around now, not Sept. 8. I am going to the LCBO to pick up a bottle of my new favourite, which is on the shelf where the U.S brand used to be. Cheers.

BACK IN THE DAY
Just think, if Jean Chretien would have done what he ran on and cancelled the free trade agreement, we wouldn’t be in this predicament and would still be building cars and airplanes here and our dollar was more than the United States. We should ask him how he feels now.
