THE LOSS OF IRONY
Re “Some help not wanted” (Spiro Papuckoski, April 23): I just can’t get over how any institution, company or otherwise could actually put this advertisement out as this university has. It is discrimination, plain and simple. These types of extreme actions need to be stopped in the DEI ideology. You can promote DEI without being discriminatory against another demographic. Isn’t inclusivity part of this three letter phrase? Sad how in Canada of all places a group of people are legally vilified and can’t even feel as part of the collective group anymore and, further, not have human rights protections like anyone else outside of this demographic. These identity politics need to stop. Anyone who can’t see how divisive they are need to give their head a shake. I won’t even go the into the history of the university being a living memorial for those who died in the First World War. I am sure you can see the irony in that with the action this university is taking.

(What’s as shocking is how acceptable it is to blatantly have this kind of discrimination. This is Canada now)
TOTAL CONTROL
Re “Senate’s fatal flaw: It isn’t democratic” (Editorial, April 25): The Senate was established as a sober second thought in Parliament that receives, scrutinizes and passes legislation put forward by the House of Commons. Today that is no longer the case as Justin Trudeau packed it with Liberal supporters he termed independents. This means that Mark Carney can basically rely on the Senate to rubber stamp into law anything he forwards. As well as the Senate, Carney now has control of Federal Courts Trudeau also stacked with Liberal supporters, the RCMP and much of the media he funds. Carney’ manufactured majority gives him control over all parliamentary committees, meaning he can shut down opposition parties’ criticism. Canada no longer has a democratic system of government of the people, for the people and by the people but autocratic one-party rule!
