“I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive,” the wife of retired NFL star Jason Kelce said on Thursday’s episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast.
“I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly,” the mom of four noted.
“I apologize for the mistake,” she told listeners. “I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected.”
Taylor Swift’s sister-in-law then issued a direct apology to Kate.
“Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize,” she said. “I will get that sorted immediately starting now.”

From Kate to Catherine, Duchess to Princess
Kate, born Catherine Middleton, became Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, upon her marriage to Prince William in April 2011.
In September 2022, William became the Prince of Wales, gaining the title from his father, who became king following Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Kate, in turn, became Princess of Wales.
Last week, Kelce extended an invitation to the future queen, saying, “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We got a couple things in common.”
She went on to note how their “husbands chitchatted on the other podcast,” referencing William’s appearance on Jason and brother Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast in July.
“But you could come on this one. I don’t know. Just a thought. It’s a thought,” she said last week. “We’d love to have you. No pressure. Please.”
Sign of respect
Travis told William on the brothers’ podcast that meeting him and his kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, backstage at Swift’s Eras Tour show in London in June 2024 was “one of the coolest moments ever,” but also revealed they were “so nervous” to meet them.

Kelce’s apology to Kate was prompted by a listener who wrote in saying that princess “is too refined and beautiful to be subjected to [Kylie’s] cursing.”
The commenter added: “You’ll need to clean up your act,” which the 34-year-old agreed with, explaining that while she “loves curse words,” she wouldn’t dare swear in front of the royal.

“At the end of the day, I am respectful of the situations that I am put in, at least being respectful to the people I am speaking to,” Kylie said.
But she admitted Kate likely won’t be making an appearance on her show.
“Do I think she has time to hop on this podcast? No, I do not. I don’t think that.”
