Thick thighs may save lives, but they aren’t doing Karlye Taylor‘s Halloween costume any favors. In a recent TikTok, the social media star dressed up as Velma from “Scooby-Doo,” complete with an orange cutout crop top, red miniskirt, oversized glasses, and a pair of orange knee-highs that refused to stay put.
Karlye Taylor’s ‘Thick Thighs’ Put Her Velma Costume To The Test
“They just roll down every time,” she complained, noting that the look isn’t exactly built for women with “muscular, thick thighs.”
“They’ll stay for just a second,” she added. “But then, as soon as I start moving around, it’ll eventually slide.” Moments later, the creator put that theory to the test with a little strut for the camera. “How cute is this? I’m Velma from ‘Scooby-Doo,'” she gushed, just as one sock began its slow slide south. “See, there it goes.”
As it turns out, even Ashley Graham has spent a night battling runaway thigh-highs. Back in 2019, the model paired a denim dress with thigh-high boots for Gigi Hadid’s birthday party. She later admitted on Instagram that she “had to pull them up all night,” but still got them over her “saving lives thighs” and felt “sexy AF.”
Olympic rugby star Ilona Maher has also been vocal about embracing her muscular legs, urging women in June 2025 to “wear the short skirt that lets everyone know your thighs don’t just touch; they pretty much meld into one.”
One Strut Sends Karlye Taylor’s Knee-Highs Sliding
Taylor clearly liked the finished look, even as the socks refused to cooperate. She showed off the costume, walked for the camera, and caught the slipping fabric in real time. The orange top, red skirt, and glasses did their part, but keeping the knee-highs in place was another story. Her excitement over becoming Velma came with a running demonstration of the outfit’s most annoying detail.
That little walk was enough to prove her point. Standing still, the socks could briefly stay where she wanted them. Once she started moving, one began sliding, interrupting the costume reveal with exactly the problem she had just described. It was an outfit check with an immediate reality check built in, and Taylor kept both in the video.

Ashley Graham And Ilona Maher Embrace Their ‘Thick Thighs’
ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGA Graham’s experience offers a similar example from a very different night out. Her thigh-high boots needed repeated adjustments throughout a celebrity birthday party, while Taylor’s knee-highs started slipping during a costume try-on.
Both liked how they looked, even when part of the outfit required extra attention. Maher’s message brings another perspective to the conversation, encouraging women to show off their muscular legs in a short skirt.
Together, the examples leave room for enjoying a look and admitting when the clothes themselves are making it harder to wear.
Velma Gets A New Chapter In Netflix’s ‘Scooby-Doo’ Series
As for Taylor’s costume pick, her timing is spot on. Velma is gearing up for a fresh spotlight in Scooby-Doo: Origins, Netflix’s upcoming live-action series set to premiere in 2027. Abby Ryder Fortson will play the gang’s resident brain, more than two decades after Linda Cardellini wore the orange turtleneck in the 2002 movie.
According to the streaming giant, the eight-episode series will take viewers back to the gang’s beginnings, when a lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder brings the future Mystery Inc. together. And in a franchise first, Scooby himself will be played by a real dog.
Whether Taylor will actually wear the Velma costume on Halloween remains to be seen, but she’s no stranger to entertaining an audience. The influencer has built a combined following of more than 1 million across social media, first gaining attention through dance and comedy videos on TikTok.
Karlye Taylor Went From Deleting Posts To Brushing Off Critics
Putting herself out there wasn’t always this easy. In a 2025 Snapchat video, Taylor recalled deleting some of her earliest posts after people at school made fun of her, admitting she used to take every comment “really personally.”
Fast-forward to today, and the girl who once hit delete is fully unbothered. “You wanna say something rude? Get it off your chest, baby,” she said. “I don’t care, though.”
