Kostas Karetsas was Borussia Dortmund's hero on the night as his goal ensured a 2-1 victory against Real Betis at the Westfalenstadion.

I’m obviously very happy. It hasn’t always been easy for me recently," Karetsas said after the game, referencing his spell of injury setbacks.

"That’s why I’m really glad I came on today and was able to make a real contribution to the team [by scoring a goal].

“I think we put in a very good performance and deserved to win. Betis have a very strong team,” the Greek talent said of their Spanish visitors.

Another key man at the heart of BVB's defence was Waldemar Anton. He expressed his joy at taking another big Champions League step.

“We took control of the key phases of the match today and made further progress," the defender said in the mixed zone at full-time.

"That was a very important win today at this stage of the season, but we still have a long way to go [to qualify for the knockouts].

“We’re in good form and everyone in the team is keen to give it their all – including the players who come on as substitutes,” he concluded.

The North-Rhine Westphalian giants next port of call returns them to Bundesliga action, taking on SV Elversberg this Saturday at 15:30 CET.
