Josh Hutcherson May Return for a Five Nights at Freddy’s Sequel if 1 Fact in the Movie Everyone Missed is True

SUMMARY

  • Five Nights at Freddy's sequel has emboldened creators to move forward with a sequel.
  • Matthew Lillard's William Afton had already confirmed that he would return at the end of the movie.
  • Lillard's three movie contract suggests that this could be the start of a new franchise.

When Josh Hutcherson signed up for Five Nights at Freddy’s, fans pinned a lot of expectations on the video game-based movie. And it won’t be wrong to say that their expectations were met. The horror flick won over a lot of people with the terror it evoked, or rather the animatronics.
This makes it one of the rare movies that is based on a game and has actually managed to enthrall fans. Some achievement that! Word has it that we might be in for a second go at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. And if there was any doubt, there was no need for any after revisiting the movie itself.

Josh Hutcherson might not have seen the end of William Afton

When Josh Hutcherson’s Mike Schmidt landed himself a job as a guard at an abandoned pizzeria, he thought he had a job that would help him make easy money. Little did he know that the nights he was about to have would be the most scary of his life.

It is at the pizzeria that he came across the animatronics, which he would later discover were ghosts doing the bidding of Matthew Lillard’s William Afton. Though William is taken down for good at the end of the movie, the climax may have confirmed his return for another film.

William Afton (almost) confirms his return for Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel

The animatronics, possessed by the ghosts of the kids who had been killed by William Afton turned on him at the end, marking the end of the line for the serial killer. But right when’s he dragged out of his animatronic suit and stabbed, he makes a promise.

Lillard’s character went on to say, “I always come back.” Not many fans might have paid attention to these words, but it looks like they should have. Considering the fact that Five Nights at Freddy’s didn’t confirm his death, these lines might reveal what lies ahead.

The movie’s success has emboldened creators to push on for a sequel to the hit horror. And if one were to take Lillard’s line as the truth, the creators themselves knew that it could happen. What adds fuel to the fire is the fact that Lillard has already signed a three-movie contract, all but confirming that we have a franchise on our hands.

It remains to be seen how Afton makes his way to the next movie – as a human or as an animatronic. No matter the form, his thirst for blood most probably will still be at its peak, an imperative for the franchise’s success in the long run.
