Jodie Sweetin shares heartbreaking update on the ‘Full House’ group chat after Bob Saget’s death

The “Full House” group chat hasn’t felt quite as full without Bob Saget.

Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner on the ABC sitcom, said the cast’s text thread has been “very quiet” since Saget’s death in January 2022.

“He was always one of the first to say happy birthday or the first to start planning something,” Sweetin, 44, told SheKnows in an interview published Tuesday.

Saget was found dead at age 65 in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.

His cause of death was initially unclear, but authorities later determined he died from blunt head trauma that caused a brain bleed after he accidentally hit the back of his head and went to sleep.

Saget played Danny Tanner, Sweetin’s on-screen father, with Candace Cameron Bure and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen portraying his other daughters, D.J. and Michelle Tanner, respectively.

The cast, which also features John Stamos, Lori Loughlin and Dave Coulier, often reunites, with Sweetin saying Saget is still very much a part of their conversations.

“Every time we get together, there’s always a moment when we’re like, ‘Bob should be here,'” Sweetin told SheKnows. “It does break your heart when you get everybody together and there’s one person missing.”

Sweetin also said she loves that Saget still comes up whenever the cast gets together, adding that she’s sure he would have loved it, too, since he “loved the attention.”

In the wake of Saget’s death, the “Full House” cast came together to release a joint statement saying they were “griev[ing] as a family.”

“Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family,” the statement read. “Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us.

“Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob.”

Earlier this month, Sweetin, Stamos, Loughlin, Coulier and Andrea Barber — who played Kimmy Gibbler — reunited at The Nostalgia Con in Orlando, Florida.

The appearance came six months after Coulier announced he was in remission from tongue cancer.

Stamos shared a TikTok of the actors dancing backstage to C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” captioning the clip, “Threw our necks out for this.”
