Pop icon Jennifer Lopez has had several high-profile relationships in her life. But when she started dating Sean “Diddy” Combs in the late 1990s, this made them the most iconic couple of the music industry, given both of them were at the top of their game at the time. However, this romance was short-lived, and the duo broke up in 2001 after dating for two years.

The duo was then spotted at several events, but things were not as they seemed on the outside. They broke up just two years later in 2001, with the actress detailing what actually went wrong. In an interview, she added:

I was in this relationship with Puff (Diddy) where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin. I never caught him [cheating] but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never came back that night. (She recalled) I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?

Interestingly, while they were together, and were visiting a nightclub, shots were fired inside. This incident happened due to an apparent altercation between Diddy and another person in the club. After which the duo fled the scene but were later arrested.

A former detective told The New York Post that Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe, was furious with the events when she reached the police station looking for her daughter. This might have been the reason why, when in a resurfaced video Wendy Williams asked Lopez if she’d get back together with Diddy. Her mother showcased a staunch disapproval for the same.

So, when the camera shifted towards her, she said, “It’s done,” talking about the relationship. And given Diddy’s current legal troubles, it’s safe to say that Guadalupe knew better, and that the rapper was not good for her daughter.
